Ha-ha! It's going to be like the scene in I, Robot where the pasty translucent robots start jumping out of the truck on to the Will Smith character's car to make him lose control, crash, and die. Except it'll be a bus load of expensive, over dressed, dramatic, snobby lawyers flooding Metro's offices with so much paper work that the Metro board almost dies in the paper flood LOL!

Saw a "No subway under BHHS" Halloween sign tonight at the lawn of a Beverly-Hills-adjacent home. I thought only NFSR had these orange - black Halloween lawn signs.

Rail obstructionists should accept the fact that at-grade rail deserves as much chance as the at-grade automobile. |

KTLA had a hit piece in last night's news at 10. The anchor said that Metro approved the subway despite massive opposition from residents and scientists. Korbatov and Antonovich were the only two they showed speaking. They showed the clip from the BH video with the flames.
They didn't mention the years of environmental meetings, directly involving the public. They didn't mention the hundreds of subway supporters who showed up to those meetings. They didn't mention how localized the opposition was. They didn't mention the amount of scientific analysis that went into the decision.
The message was clear: METRO has no regard and no respect for the people. Ugh.

How many lawsuits could BH file against Metro? Only CEQA and NEPA, right? In any case, as long as Metro can prove they have done their due diligence, then BHUSD has no case. I can't wait see how much BHUSD would have to repay Metro for all litigation.

This is one of many reasons why I don't watch KTLA news.

KTTV and KCAL/KCBS weren't much better. Both reported the news but in the narrative framing of BHUSD. But at least they didn't show the fireball video.

I would be happy if they started planning/ designing/ digging from Western west to Fairfax or LaCienega.
By the time they reached Beverly Hills, the lawsuits will be over.

While I would love that and I hope that happens, I believe BH's lawsuit will include complaints over construction at La Cienega. If you look at the letter they sent Metro about the time they decided to request the special hearing, they complained quite vociferously about construction impacts at La Cienega. Specifically, they pulled the bait and switch card, saying they didn't know initially the boring machines would be dropped at La Cienega instead of Fairfax. I think their complaints will be tossed out of court, but I still think they'll be made.

Interesting article....
The message board is eerily quite. I wonder what the platoon of lawyers that Beverly Hills hired is scheming?

This just got personal folks.....a 2nd lawsuit against the Purple Line from...........Beverly Hills. Surprisingly, this lawsuit is not even associated with BHUSD but with the City itself. They're also alleging the EIR is faulty. Is Beverly Hills now the most hated city in America?

OK, so first the Beverly Hills Unified School District filed a lawsuit and now the city of Beverly Hills has filed their own lawsuit? Two lawsuits?!? This is ridiculous! Now they're just making a mockery of the justice system!

| Actually, the system is designed so that anybody can sue anybody else for anything they want. If it is used in that way, is it really making a mockery of the courts?
I mean, you can file suit for whatever you want, and there are mechanisms to throw out dumb lawsuits, and these lawsuits will be subjected to those same mechanisms.

OK, they're exercising their rights. But two (2) lawsuits? The only things missing now are lawsuits from the various homeowners associations whose areas sit over the tunnel.

Most of the Beverly Hills and West LA homeowner associations have expressed support for the Constellation route. They statement of support were included the EIR.
The issue of school only came up because there was a school board election in Beverly Hills earlier this year. Certain individual decided to make this an "election" issue to drive up turn out. But now she has created a mob, she cannot back down and is going to take the entire school district and the city council down with her.

Ha-ha! There's a lesson to be learned in all this, but why mention it. Let Beverly Hills learn it the hard (and expensive) way. I think that it's been established that wealth and intelligence do not go hand in hand. At least the lawyers will come out smiling LOL!
I wonder what world class cities (Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Japan, Paris, Berlin, etc.), with built out rail/subway lines, would think if they knew of Beverly Hills paranoid reaction to the subway?

Thank you RT. So now it's turned into a convoluted 'You may thank me' fest as they further their political careers. I lived in Mt. Washington when the Pasadena Gold Line was being planned/built. It got so dirty when the elderly were being told "Ambulances will be detained at the rail crossings and you'll die on your way to Huntington Hospital!" All the elderly came to oppose it until Metro decided to trench under Green, Colorado, Union, and Holly. Then it became moot.
This is interesting. So was Beverly Hills feigning support for the Purple Line extension all along and now that they found an out, they're clawing for it so they can walk away as though they tried being reasonable and remain in their 1959 car-topia?

Back in the 1990's when the Metro predecessor was holding meetings about where to run light rail lines, one of their representatives told me that they liked coming to the San Gabriel Valley and felt welcome here, in contrast to the San Fernando Valley, where most of the people who showed up at the meetings treated them like hostile invaders.
