You're correct about both. The latter is shown in the plan drawing of the station at Bergamot.

Lots of pipes in the ROW between Westwood and Military. I can only imagine this is LADWP lowering water mains

I saw that too. Very encouraging sign that some work is actually being done on Phase 2. I have grown very tired of explaining to people that the fenced off area is indeed a construction zone.

When I drove through the intersection of Olympic and Cloverfield in Santa Monica this morning there was a backhoe in action at the southwest corner, I assume in the Expo Line ROW for the elevated bridge.

Fortunately, Bruno has relocated German Car Service to 2143 Pontius Ave, unfortunately the 993 will have to cross the 405 for service. ;)

This morning there were a couple of surveyors at work at the intersection of 26th St, and Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica. One was at the southeast (Bergamot Station) corner, and the other was in the median west of the intersection, facing east. It looks like something's coming . . .

Lots of happenings at ROW between Veteran and Overland the last couple of days. Looks like they are grading the land - lots of fresh dirt.

I caught a glimpse while riding a BBB on Westwood and it looks like they're dug a trench (rough guess: about 2 feet wide by 2 feet deep) along the north side of the ROW from Westwood heading west. I'll try to grab some photos in the next couple days.

I was curious about Phase II and had asked Skanska about a specific portion of the project (the Bundy Bridge) since this would be the station I live closest too and the street I most often pass Expo.

Basically, it is progressing towards 85% design and construction "could" begin in Sept. Definately, a little disappointing although not surprising, especially since Expo in some of their presentations in Nov. was saying major construction was expected to begin in early 2012 (it may somewhere else, but I would have expected Bundy to be among the first starts for major construction).

Utility relocation will begin in Santa Monica with a sewer line on Colorado between 14th and 17th. Work will take place between now and June:

In case anyone is wondering, Skanska is moving right along out my way (San Gabriel Valley) with the "Iconic Freeway Structure" (bridge over the eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway on the west side of Arcadia). The "falsework" (support for the concrete forms over the freeway) is complete, and crews are now setting up the forms and the rebar. Concrete pouring is expected to begin in May. As of last night's report at the GLFE meeting, there were NO reportable injuries, which means they are getting the job done on time and safely!

Well, I hear there's something going on with an HOV lane in the Sepulveda Pass too.

(But I'm guessing you meant the *rail* system, as opposed to transportation system more broadly).

The best way to stay on top of projects is Metro's Construction Committee monthly minutes and sub-reports from this.

Crenshaw is not out to bid yet. They are supposed to release the Request for Proposals in Mid April. They are listing late 2012 as the start for major construction, but I doubt that. Hopefully, it will have a quicker timetable to start construction than Expo Phase II.

According to Metro, Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) for the Crenshaw Corridor were due March 12 and the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the main design-build contract will go out in mid-April.

They were digging at the National Boulevard bridge abutment yesterday. The freeway sign was being removed. This bridge will be preserved for the westbound track and an additional, new bridge will be constructed on the side they are digging for the eastbound track.
