Here is the 2AV Express data: A couple thoughts here. The 3SB line shaves 28 minutes off of a normal 88 minute ride. The 2AV shown here shaves 23 minutes off of a 111 minute ride. The bang for the buck so to speak is much less on this express line, it is a longer ride to begin with, and you are saving less time than the 3SB line. The inbound express (#282) seems to pull most of it's riders from the prior train. On the outbound side, trains 213, 215 and 217 all saw fewer riders due to the Express, but the later train 219 bumped up over 100. Some of this of course could be seasonal too, but it looks like more are shooting to take the express train if their previous train was relatively close to the same departure time, and some are just working later. Just for fun: Metrolink Normal: 111 minutes Metrolink Express: 88 minutes HSR: 27 minutes RT P.S. I have Metrolink ridership numbers now, and will start up a new thread for that once I decide how exactly to present them.

I agree that these express trains may take a little bit to catch on. Hopefully, we'll see increased ridership. Overall, ridership at Metrolink seems to be up 10% over 6-9 months ago. That's not really going to tell you much. There's usually a major, cyclical dip in ridership during November-January due to the holidays. Everyone's traveling less overall. The better info comes from looking at how the June 2011 numbers compare to June 2010 and 2009, etc. True. It appears to have increased about 10% from last summer (one can only look back 11 months ago on their website from what I have seen).
