I was wondering if anyone could explain why there is only peak rush service on the Riverside Metrolink line? My in-laws live in Diamond Bar and when Expo comes that would be the way to go to get to their house. I suspect there is a good reason or else the service would be there.

I don't know but my guess is because of freight traffic. I remember reading a story in the LA times a few years ago that the 91 line was the most prone to freight delays. So much so that some riders that lived close to the 91 line would drive to the SB line instead.

Union Pacific owns these tracks and Metrolink would have to get UP to change policies to allow more service, besides collecting higher fees.

I would love to see higher frequencies on this line, with a spur to Ontario Airport. UP would probably nix that, but it would be great if we could use existing rail infrastructure to leverage all that extra capacity at ONT instead of having to spend so much on upgrades at LAX. I know California high speed rail is supposed to provide connections to Ontario from LA and Riverside if it ever gets built, but Metrolink would give local stopping service.
