I just discovered this, although maybe some of you have seen this. It's TV Tropes, a web site you probably already know: it's generally dedicated to TV shows Jumping the Shark, why Anime programs Gotta Have Blue Hair and all sorts of ways to explore TV, movies, books, video games and comics from the Muppets to Star Trek to Naruto. They have a rail enthusiast page. So, the examples given are mostly fictional characters. Still, it also compares British, Japanese, German and American trainspotters, densha otoku, etc. An interesting, somewhat funny take on railfanning. Railfans are pretty much the rail transit nerds' cousins, so why not?

A movie highly recommended for streetcar fans is "Malcolm", an Australian film about a young man who is obsessed with the Melbourne tramway system. The character reminded me of a certain Pacific Electric enthusiast in his detailed knowledge of the railway.

I don't actually remember how I came across this website, but if you like video's of all manner of trains, this British site has a lot of DVD's available: www.video125.co.uk/acatalog/I found that they have started selling Blu-Ray's just recently. I ordered the Eurostar drivers eye view from Brussels to London, and watched that last night. Very, very good when seen on the big screen, 2 hours, lots of nice commentary too. I also have the Strasbourg to Paris drivers eye view. That one runs 103 minutes. Mrs. RT was away for the evening, otherwise I would never have been able to watch a 2 hour train video RT
