In non-Expo News, Culver CityBus has taken delivery of a number of New Flyer Xcelcior XDE 40 Buses. According to a press release from New Flyer, Culver CityBus exercised their option on 20 Buses. Since I work near the transit Center I've been seeing them shuffle the new busses in and out of the main yard and storing some of them in a empty lot a couple of doors down from the main yard. A couple have been painted with the new rapid scheme, but most are still plain green. In the first picture below, there are another 4 buses behind the 5 seen in the foreground.

Thanks for that. ;D I guess that the 1998 New Flyer C40LFs (7060-7079) will be going away soon. Kinda related, I can't figure out Culver CityBus' numbering scheme. Up to 1981, they used the "SSXX" numbering scheme, where SS = # of seats in the bus. They used 35 foot GMC Fishbowls, so their buses were numbered in the 4500s. Then in 1981, they got 10 GMC RTS-04s, but numbered them 7022-7031. They then proceeded to renumber the surviving Fishbowls in the 7000 series, starting at 7014 (I think) up to 7021. And they've gone on from there. I can't figure out the relevance of the 70 Obviously, not the number of seats, not the year ordered... (?)

Very exciting news! BTW, it is Xcelcior XN40 not XDE40.
XN = CNG XDE = diesel electric hybrid
I saw a 1998 New Flyer parked by the garbage truck lot on Jefferson 2 weeks ago, stripped of all trim and spare parts. I guess it was headed for the auction block.
