The BRU is pure evil. As a person of color, I find their ideology insulting to anyone with an inkling of concern of real civil rights. Their spoon-fed brainwashing of immigrants and minorities IS racist; instead of listeing to their concerns, the BRU imposes its ersatz form of Marxism on them. They claim to empower, but in fact it's just a rich white Mann (pun intended) telling the poor colored people what to do. And you can't get anymore racist than that.

Ill second that elson. It sickens me that they impose their idiotic views under the guise of the "working class minorities". Maybe we should form a group that counters the BRU's crap and represents those with a true concern for minorities.

Although I would not, of course, ever even consider joining the BRU, I am very glad the organization exists. Would the Consent Decree have ever come about without it?

Absolutely. I third Elson. BRU is an organization that makes racial tension, and exploits bus riders by trying to appear like a legitimate grass-roots organization concerned with better bus transit.
Probably the worst thing that came out of the BRU was the Consent Decree, which probably HURTS bus service rather than helping it. The MTA has to pay good money to buy buses rather than using money to run buses. (Considering one bus costs like $300,000. Not exactly chump change)
And with the clean air bus requirements, the MTA still doesn't run any low-floor articulated buses. I live here in Orange County, and many of the high ridership routes have artics running on them packed with people. The MTA can't get the same artics the OCTA uses because the artics are using diesel engines..
By the way, be sure to check BRUtruth.com
