Hey all, thanks for working on this new forum. I use to be "LA of Anaheim" on the previous site, but decided to 'reveal' my identify and be Sodha on this new forum. I use to live in Anaheim, but just moved to LA last week, thus the name is no longer relevant (but my gudge to Arte Moreno still stands).
Anyways, cheers for the new forum, it looks great!

I've been debating that since January 2005. For now, I'm staying a basketball fan (esp. the Clippers). However, I've been rooting against Arte's Angels since '05. After he made his name change proposal, I threw away all my former Angels clothes. It's tough for me, especially b/c I grew up in Anaheim. I think Anaheim should be treated as the capital of OC, b/c it is the cultural, arts, and entertainment home for the OC. Anaheim is not a second rate city.

Not to argue a point, but Anaheim really isn't the capital of Orange County. The government center and county seat is in Santa Ana and Santa Ana is the largest city. The airport is in Costa Mesa as is the cultural center (Orange County Center for Performing Arts). The truth is that Orange County has no center. By passing up coming up with a new international airport and the Centerline, it is hopelessly destined to be LA's big suburb.

The new forum is waay better than the old one. Thanks a bunch to Elson, Robert, Bart, Jerard, Ken, and everyone else that made it possible! I'd like to throw out a suggestion and see how everyone else feels. The forum topics are currently arranged in a similar fashion to the topics on the old forum. Currently there are 50 separate topics! Would it make sense to anyone to cut that number down to something more mentally and visually manageable? Like 10 or maybe even less? I think that some topics would go months if not years without any posts in the old forum.

Anyone else interested in picture threads? Since all pictures are hosted offsite, there seems to be no problem in anything like that, so feel free to...Besides, the old forum was devoid of any visuals, so you might as well make up for lost time! I strongly recommend though, in the interest of fast loading and dial-up users, that you try to observe these standards when uploading your own pics to your hosting sites for display on these forums: * 640x480 max recommended, there are exceptions of course, but the 640x480 standard is recommended so we won't see any humongous pictures all the time. * 72 dpi * jpegs should be "web-optimized," meaning they must be processed to make the file size smaller while apparently retaining as much image quality as possible. For those of you who use Adobe Photoshop, select the "Save For Web..." option to create a web-optimized copy of your image (you are free to keep the original file hi-res if you choose). If you do not use Photoshop, you can use a third-party software program to web-optimize your photos. A web-optimized file loads faster than an unoptimized version, and there is little, if any, noticeable reduction in image quality (think of it as an image-file version of an MP3). * Watch your bandwidth. If you put your photos on a site where you have other photos seen often in other websites you might run out of your hosting banwidth, and all we get to see is the logo of your hosting site or some picture of a frog * Don't go overboard. Even on a high-speed connection, a page full of pictures can take a long time to load. Try to keep a manageable amount of photos on your posts. Self-edit. We don't need to see ALL your pics, just the best ones. * If you quote-reply to a picture thread, please do not quote every picture in the original post. If you want to comment on one image, you can quote that one picture, but please do NOT quote the entire picture post with a mere reply that says, "Cool pix!" I mean, come on. Post away!

I think that some topics would go months if not years without any posts in the old forum. I created the topics to duplicate the old forum, but then Bart realized there should be some more, so I added those. Give it time, after we get this forum rolling, we will delete or merge little-used or un-used topics. But for now, for the convenience of the forum "veterans" during this transitional period, we will have the same topics as the old board.

I haven't been hip to that RSS thing yet...but I assume it would save me lots of time since I'm a forum junkie...hahah. But unfortunately we have no control over that as proboards.com does not support it, at least not currently.
