I was in downtown santa monica today waiting for the bus and I realized that they have put real time arrival signs up at all of their bus shelters down town. Benjamin Steers who works on transit software systems for the big blue bus said that these 8 signs(2 at each shelter) are the only one getting put up for now until the big blue bus does their bus stop redevelopment project in the next couple of years. They will be putting up more real time signs in the shelters at the proposed locations on the map(see link) indicated by a yellow star or red circle. They are also redeveloping their signage to include more information. Map of bus stops in santa monica: www.bigbluebus.com/pdf/Map_of_all_Bus_Stops_8_13_08.pdfWhat is proposed at each bus stop: www.bigbluebus.com/pdf/4_Types_of_Stops.pdfIt sound to me from the descriptions that they are proposing something similar to metros signs with added information like a location number most likely for when you are calling customer service with questions or comments. Does that mean no more triangles?
