From the Daily News: Orange Line riders left out of the part on New Year's EveThis is in response to Metro's tradition of all-night New Years service on our rail lines, which confusingly, doesn't include the Orange Line, despite being designated and somewhat treated like one, until special services like this. So why bother considering the Orange Line like rail if Metro can't let it play along with our heavy and light rail lines? Because "the Orange Line isn't among the some 40 bus lines that already currently operate with a 24-hour service." Too bad for line 901. I wonder if there is a bus union that didn't want to provide the extra service for the Orange Line.

Cool!
I wonder if operating costs played into the initial reluctance? IINM the Orange Line only recieives something like $0.60 per rider and the actual cost is $5-6 per rider.
