Is it just me or does Metro do maintenance on the Green Line everyday of the week during the mid-day? There's always some sort of service disruption whenever i ride the train during the mid-day.

I drove by a week or so ago and saw a white truck slowing crawling down the Green Line... with a guy lifted in a bucket... and he was near the OCS. Couldn't tell what he was doing... maybe they just put up new overhead wire???
If not, why in the middle of the day... on a weekday. Most work is at night. I suppose they need the sun light, or the crews are only available during the day.
Makes me wonder, does Metro have a problem hiring enough workers?

New overhead wire is not that likely--my guess would be that there was a problem with wire-to-"pantograph" contact. If there's a kink in the wire, and the "pans" bounce and cause an arc, it can weaken the wire, and it's a lot easier to have a "planned outage" or "work window" to replace a short section under controlled conditions, than have a wire break and cause a big "how annoying" situation. And, you may be right in thinking that doing the inspection during the day provides sunlight. No matter how good your nighttime work light apparatus is, it's hard to beat the big thermonuclear reactor that's 93 million miles away.

It seems that the stations will be gated off and will ony be accessible thru the turnstiles now. a few days back i saw putting up gates at the el segundo station. When will the turnstile be 100% operable? (meaning ALL turnstiles actualling functioning).
