What's really special about trips like this (there was one a year or two ago, and the first one was about five years ago) is that the locomotive, Santa Fe 3751, used to sit in the park west of the San Bernardino depot: cold, silent and motionless. Once again it returns in triumph. Another historic element is that from Los Angeles (near the County Hospital) to Claremont, much of the route was part of the Pacific Electric Red Car line to San Bernardino.
