The Blue line has gone through a number of changes over its 20+ years of operation. Starting with an obnoxious blatty horn and dual lights to a K5LA sound alike horn, flashing dual lights and a bright center light - all in increasing attempts to convince drivers that, yep, that's a train and it will crush you. They've also added a buzzer sound that's not quite as obnoxious. However, one opposite change has been the addition of electronic bells to replace the mechanical ones. I don't like them because they cut off the decay - making it sound un-natural. But one thing I just discovered is that the mechanical bells are still in service - as proven by this video which shows BOTH being activated: As these trains are slated to be remodeled and used on the new Expo line, does anyone know of more changes that will take place or should take place? Will the mechanical bells be removed?

I love the mechanical bells. The digitally-sampled bells are awful, but unfortunately as you can hear in the video, they're much louder.
