I got a couple of shots of the new red/purple line paint scheme this morning. I don't think that the car in this shot is finished. The car that I saw yesterday had "Metro" at the top in the middle of the car similar to the "Metro" on the blue line car picture in the other thread. I don't know about anyone else, but I liked the red stripes.

I liked the stripes too. There's only one picture. Is this the one that's done or not?

Cars 600 and 601 are coupled together and both look the same as the car in this picture. I believe that the picture above is of 600. The other day I saw a similar car, but it was the only car in the set without the stripes. I didn't get that good of a look because it was pulling out of the station. But different than the car in the picture above it had "Metro" written near the top and "Metro Rail" on the bottom right just like the new blue line scheme. The only slight difference was that the "Metro" on the top was just an outline with no coloring. I don't know if they hadn't filled in the black part or if they intend for it to stay that way. I don't think that it had the round Metro logo either, but I'm not sure about that.
600 and 601 don't have "Metro" nor "Metro Rail" painted on the outside yet.

that subway train actually looks pretty cool in the photo there. I would be happy with that as a paint scheme.
I'm not particularly crazy about the big giant METRO RAIL lettering that has been painted on some of the trains; I think it looks kinda tacky. But, ah well! As long as the trains run smoothly, what do I care?

Okay I guess that they weren't done when I took those pictures. Cars 600 and 601 now have two red stripes where there used to be none. I wonder if car 105 on the blue line will get a blue stripe? It was still bare when I saw it in the yard tonight.

Is this a part of the restoration? If so, why is the blue line getting repainted if it is just getting new cars anyway?

I don't think that it's part of the restoration. It's just metro continuing in their attempt at re-branding our system. BTW I was wrong about a couple of facts. The car numbers are 599 and 600, not 601. Also I rode those cars this morning and they are still plain silver so the cars with the red stripe in the yard are different ones. The gold line trains will also be sporting a new look.

Here's a slightly better picture of car 515. Sorry to be so confusing with the wrong car numbers earlier.

The Metro sign on the Gold Line train looks weird, probably because of that "dent"

Why are they putting red stripes on the trains if they're going to use the trains on both the purple line and red line? If anything it adds further confusion to the system, they should be adding proper destination signs that can be clearly read. In Chicago they have the line color as the background then use white for the destination text. I hope they add an automated announcement system too (I believe they are?) because 50% of the time you can't make out what is being said.
