Tell Metro how you miss traffic by going Metro
Did you knit a sweater for your grandmother on the 920 while missing all the traffic on Wilshire Boulevard? Do you study for exams on the Red Line while missing the Hollywood Freeway gridlock? Or do you just relax with your iPod and stare out at all the traffic you’re missing from the window of Metro Local Line 204?
Here’s your chance to be “crowned” as the next Miss Traffic! Just tell us how you miss traffic by going Metro in 100 words or less using the Miss Traffic entry form by March 3, 2008. If you’re selected as a finalist, we’ll feature you in a short video telling your story, post it on metro.net’s new interactive page, and let the public vote for the winner!
All finalists will be honored at a press event and receive an official Metro t-shirt. So enter today!

Boy, I have some fun "Miss Traffic" transit stories to share which occured on various bus and train lines. Here are a few:
One of my favorite "Miss Traffic" times was when I took
a cat-nap on a Metrolink train on a Saturday afternoon and the
I-5 was bumper-to-bumper through Mission Viejo and San
Juan Capistrano.
OCTA Route 89 - Well, I had the case of cabin fever on a summer day when I lived in the OC; so I took a trip to Laguna Beach via the OCTA bus to get some cool air and a little walk in. Did I "miss traffic" on the way there? Anybody been to Laguna Beach on hot summer day?
RTA Route 206 - Well, the I-15 wasn't congested, but this route certainly allowed me to "miss traffic" as drivers always have to be alert on this fast-paced highway between Corona and Temecula. After a good Saturday's excursion, I could use a little shut-eye on the way back instead of battling the freeway.
RTA Route 20 - This trip was more like a "Miss Parking" trip than a "Miss Traffic" one. This bus line serves Moreno Valley and the Riverside County Medical Center. Parking at the county hospital can be a real headache. The lot is usually full and parking is restricted in neighboring lots. So, when I had to drop off a piece of equipment there, I ditched the car somewhere along this bus route and hopped aboard the bus. I got to share a few stories with other passengers and I got to meet one of the nicest bus drivers, period. The bus also drops people off just outside the front doors of the hospital too; so there's curbside service for transit riders.
RTA Route 27 - This line serves SR 74 in the Perris Valley area, which is a very heavy, fast-paced highway. I rode this bus line to a religious function in Sun City on a Saturday. Going from Sun City to Hemet, I was reading a bible and a passenger who was having a bad day asked me if he could read it. When he got off at Homeland, he was feeling much better.
