I was watching NBC news this morning and they had a blurb about the Orange Line exceeding it's 2020 ridership targets in less than one year of operation. It's funny how NIMBY's and various politicians keep telling us people in LA don't want public transit yet when you finally give people a little taste they eat it up in record amounts. An article related to this that I was able to dig up can be foudn at www.lavoice.org/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2711. Excerpt: "The orange line which cost a relatively speaking mere $313 million dollars has widely exceeded ridership expectations. In less than one year it reached the ridership forecast for the year 2020. Shortly after it opened there was a study done whose results were published in the Los Angeles Times which found that the orange line had improved the performance of the 101 freeway by reducing the time that cars spent on the freeway as well as by allowing more cars to pass through." Just some food for thought.

I know it's old news, but I'm glad to see some activity on this forum. Orange Line BRT ridership exceeded the two year older Gold Line LRT. Goes to show you were the real need for rail is, although the busway runs pretty nicely, I just wished the Orange Line got all green lights. That itself could make it much faster. When the Orange Line was rerouted to Chandler between Valley College and North Hollywood stations, the buses made it to NoHo pretty much the same time or even a bit faster.

Yeah, I only rode the Orange Line once (that was about a year ago) and found it painfully slow albeit enjoyable. Stopping for most of the red lights (especially since I rode right after the slew of initial accidents) made it seem kinda pointless. This really should have a been a rail line, but I guess that's water under the bridge. Rail just scares LA for some reason.
