I looked at the Blue Line schedule and I saw the last 7 northbound trains only go to Wardlow instead of all the way to LA. What is up with this?

They have to take those trains to the maintenance yard/shops between Wardlow and Del Amo for their daily servicing.

As Jerard said, those are the last trains before the end of service and they are deadheading to the maintenance yards north past Wardlow. You'll also notice the last southbound trains stop after Del Amo. The same happens during the start of service. The Green Line does this to a smaller degree at Douglas (yard is between Douglas and Redondo Beach), however the trains can be stored at each end. The Gold Line yard is between Chinatown and Avenue 26 stations but service runs the full route. The Red and Purple Lines have a yard after Union Station and runs the full route. The reason for the Blue Line deadheading is that they can't store trains at the loop.

If the Downtown connector is built, these trains could go all the way downtown and stay in the Gold Line yard!

Actually, the DC would make no difference as two trains or even four can be stored at 7th/Metro Center for the Blue Line. Soon that station will have to hold the trains for the Expo Line. The Gold Line yard is as small as it is and can't even take much more, especially when the Eastside Extension opens up. In Long Beach, there is a loop and no terminus, so trains can't be stored there, the closest storage is the Blue Line yard north of Wardlow. However, with Metro soon running 2550's on all lines, if the DC is built, then they can run any light rail train on any line and store them anywhere.
