The need to extend the Green Line to LAX is obvious, Mayor Villaraigosa endorsed extending the Gold Line to the Ontario Airport, and there has been discussion of extending the Red Line to the Burbank Airport.
Has there been any discussion of extending a spur of the Blue Line to the Long Beach Airport?

Heck, even a shuttle would be nice. I first flew out of LGB in June of last year by taking the Blue Line down to Wardlow and having someone else in my group driving from Hawthorne pick me up.
Long Beach is the most chill of the local airports. Traffic is easy, parking is easy but a simple TWO MILE shuttle from the Blue Line would be the way to go. LGB is currently served by a circuitous bus that takes 90 freaking minutes to travel from the Blue Line (Transit Mall station, for goodness sakes!) to the airport.

If you really needed to, you'd take Line 131 from the Wardlow station and transfer to Line 111 south of the airport. Second, airport ridership is nonexistent on Line 111 to begin with, and Long Beach Transit isn't going to prime the pump by adding service that will not see additional ridership.

I don't see the blue line needing an LGB rail connection, but a better bus connection would be great.

Metro or City of Long Beach ought to give free Super Shuttle rides from Wardlow Station to Long Beach Airport, just like what Metro does for free Super Shuttle rides from North Hollywood Red Line Station to Burbank Airport. I used it once, it was quick and painless!
