One of the great features of this new board is the ability to post pictures or any other graphics file. The file you need to post must be hosted on another website -- this forum does not support uploading of files. If you cannot fild a website (i.e. you took the picture yourself), we recommend you use a photo-sharing site like photobucket.com or flickr.com. Here's how to post photos in your posts:1. Find the URL of your image. For this example, I will use the rendering of the Eastside Gold Line on the 1st St Bridge on the Transit Coalition site. If you are using Mozilla Firefox, simply right-click on the image and select, " Copy Image Location" If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, right click on the image and select "Properties" and copy the URL of the image that is listed in the properties box. 2. On your forum post, click on the " " button in the "Add Tags" toolbar above the forum text input box. You will see the image tags: [img] [/img] . Put your cursor in between the two sets of "img" tags and paste the URL you copied: [img]http://www.thetransitcoalition.us/Pictures/DiscoverGoldEE01.jpg[/img] Alternately, you can manually type the tags [img] [/img] on either side of any image URL you enter. 3. When you are done with your message post, click on the "Preview" button to test how the image will appear. 4. It should look like this! 5. If all is fine, then click on "Post Message" and there you go!

Finally ! A message board that works. I get so tired of spam. Gibberish posts are so annoying.
Glad you guys fixed this problem. I myself wouldn't mind a biometric body scan to get into this board. Hopefully that won't be necessary. Keep up the good work Bart, Dr. K , Damien, and of course da Webmasta.
Have a great weekend.

Perhaps this belongs in another thread, but I'm curious about Maps. For those of us who do not have extensive graphic skills, is there a simple, lo-tech way to take a street map, or other image, and then draw alignments or other transportation related graphics onto it?
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousands words and we could share our ideas visually with each other, even a low tech one, that can be very helpful to the discussion.
Any ideas?

How to create a transit map.1. Go to Google Maps or any other online map provider. 2. Search for "Los Angeles CA" or any other city of interest + "CA". 3. Adjust the size of the browser window so that the map (not the browser window, but the map) is about 640 x 480 pixels. 4. If you're using Google Maps, click on the "Terrain" button. I'll explain why later. 5. Pan and Zoom into the area of interest. 6. Take a picture of the screen by pressing ALT + Print Scr. 7. Open any Paint, Illustration, or Photo editing program. Windows Paint works too. Start a new document. 8. Paste the screen snapshot and crop out everything except for the map. 9. Good time to save..., just in case you mess up on your map and need to start over 10. Use any of the drawing or painting tools with bright colors to customize your map. The Google Terrain Map will make the bright colors stand out better. 11. When you're done, save the image as a JPEG or GIF and upload it to the Web. Note that this board doesn't provide hosting. Use a different host provider. Make sure your host provider permits direct linking to images before you link it; if not, open a free photo sharing provider (Photobucket.com, flickr.com, Google Photos) and paste the link of the image into the message. 12. Refer to the first message of this topic for details on how to insert the picture.

How to post tables: Row 1, cell 1 | Row 1, cell 2 | Row 2, cell 1 | |
Begin with the table icon. Here's the code that produced the table above, just changing the first "[" to "{". Notice what happened when Row 2, cell 2 was blank. {table] [tr] [td]Row 1, cell 1[/td] [td]Row 1, cell 2 [/td] [/tr] [tr] [td]Row 2, cell 1[/td] [td] [/td] [/tr] [/table][/quote]
