given the current state of public opinion in rail transportation here is probably extremely low. and given we have this coming november some very important measures in regards to public transportation. as rail proponents and general advocates i would like to arm your with some facts as you go about your daily life interacting with the voting public.
many people i have talked to said that now no mode of transportation is safe.
or that the wont take the train now, out of fear.
so i give you some numbers. via the latimes metrolink, since 1999, had 72 deaths somehow involving there trains.
while since the same time there have been over 6,6oo deaths caused by the automobile in los angeles county. [not sure if this figure includes pedestrians] nhtsa
while the investigation is still taking place and alot of rumors are going around, i believe this is an important time for us. and that having good information is a valuable asset in helping increase mobility in the county and state for all the right reasons
