Redondo, which has $2.24 million in hand, wants to build a new transportation hub on 5.3 acres of city-owned land on Kingsdale Avenue, near the South Bay Galleria's existing transit center. The city needs to fill a $3.2 million budget gap.
Torrance wants to replace the transit center it lost in 2004 when Del Amo Fashion Center began a major redevelopment. Officials are negotiating to buy a former industrial site off Crenshaw Boulevard near Dominguez Street that backs onto a railroad right of way.
