Expo board meeting, June 4, 2015, item 6b (PDF file)
Dear ExpoLine Neighborhood,
Good news! We'll be running a light rail behind your homes for the better part of a 24 hour day. But that's not all! We'll also be constructing a station right behind your backyard fence. Not to worry though, it will be brightly lit and we'll keep all station sounds, like bells, p.a. announcements, etc. to a state required minimum. This may sound like an inconvenience and an impact to the way you've lived for nearly a quarter decade --and arguably it is because we really haven't asked any other neighborhood to make quite the same sacrifices that you have in the same way. Oh, and did we mention that we'll be widening the streets too in order the make the cars go faster? Yeah we'll be doing that too. Not to worry though, we want to make it up to you. We've had a long conversation with the city of Los Angeles and in order to keep the discontent at what our lawyers advise is an acceptable level and to get the local councilman's office off our backs, we're prepared to offer you something special. We call it the Expo Greenway! And wait until you see the concept drawings. We named it after ourselves so you'll remember how considerate we were. See, in exchange for all you're about to experience, now and forever, we want you to feel as if you got a little something in exchange for the 'growing pains'. Now it won't be so bad.
Your newest neighbor,
The Expo Construction Authority
PS. Nevermind. Enjoy the train! Remember, it's free on opening day.
