Maybe a bit off-topic, but one of my memories of the early Blue Line was riding from LA to Long Beach and finding Harry Oswald running the train. Harry was a volunteer motorman at Orange Empire, and had worked for many years as a part-time RTD bus driver (his "day job" was teaching). When the light rail opened, he had enough seniority to bid a run. He passed away a few years later, but his dream came true.
