The concept has been released. It will be presented internally by Metro, which will then move on to Board discussion. Source: lastreetsblog.tumblr.com/post/107938966113/2-concept-routes-for-new-noho-pasadena-metroConcept 1 terminates at Del Mar Station and skips Colorado Blvd in Old Town Pasadena Concept 2 terminates at Lake Station and serves Colorado Blvd in Old Town Pasadena I would think Concept 2 is slightly more useful but probably adds quite a bit of operating time so costs more. The surprise here is that Metro is proposing to link NoHo Station with Burbank airport directly in a Rapid or Express branded service.

Is there any indication of whether this would be a Monday thru Friday rush-hour-only service, or is it planned to be a seven-days-a-week extended hours operation?

Proposal for pilot program is going to Metro Board for approval next week: thesource.metro.net/2015/10/15/new-noho-pasadena-express-bus-to-be-considered-by-metro-board/The pilot program will run this bus for 180 days with service to begin on the same day as Gold Line Foothill extension. Weekday peak service is 15 minutes headway. Weekday off peak and weekend service will have 30 minutes headway. So combined with the Gold and Orange Line, this will be the first time we will have real SGV-SFV crosstown transit service on a normal schedule (rather than rush hour commuter type service). The segment from NoHo station to Burbank airport ion was dropped. Article also mentions the BRT study is ongoing in the same corridor. Clearly, if this pilot program service is made permanent, the most logical way to operate it is to run it as an extension of the Orange Line - e.g. every other bus from Warner Center can be extended to Pasadena.

I have a non-driver friend that commutes from PCC to NoHo daily and he can't say "finally" enough. Is there any reason Metro ignores commute patterns like this one then suddenly humors us with an attempt to rectify it? It's pretty amazing that 2 years ago I drew maps and posted on my website an article demonstrating that the Orange Line could be used as a trunk for a BRT system that included the a "Valley U," a "Valley-Westside Express," and an extension to Burbank Airport and Pasadena, and here it all is arriving in some form.

NoHo-Pasadena Express pilot program was approved by the Metro Board. It will be called Line 501.

Instead of creating a new topic, I think it is appropriate to continue the SFV-SGV cross town BRT line discussion here. The Measure M upgrade of Line 501 to BRT is going full speed ahead. Metro has unveiled two concepts which will carry forward to EIR. UrbanizedLA has the full coverage: urbanize.la/post/new-details-proposed-north-hollywood-pasadena-brt-line

Concept 1? HELL YES. That services the two highest concentrations of businesses and apartments in Glendale and Burbank directly, which currently don't even have Metro Rapid service. It also doesn't ignore Eagle Rock the way the option 2 freeway service would.
I have a feeling, if built, it will be branded as an extension of the Orange Line anyway.

Oh definitely... this will be operated as extension of Orange line no matter which concept Metro goes with.

Metro board will consider moving the project to the EIR phase at the 5/23/19 board meeting. Pasadena’s mayor opposed bus-only lanes from Gold Line to PCC.

Numble tweeted an update on this project. This is going to be the next Nimby battle royale in LA mostly ginned up by a MAGA wannabe who has predicted a dark future in Eagle Rock where cars will have to share the streets with people. The detour in media district makes sense. I think there is no chance in hell that Metro will reduce Colorado to one lane due to the Nimby nonsense I already mentioned. So looks like wide sidewalk will be sacrificed to keep cars speeding thru Eagle Rock.
