Does anyone know where to find bus ridership figures so you can get an idea of which places have high ridership and would be a good place for rail maybe?

The ridership statistics are at the MTA Library, 15th floor of the Taj Mahal. Open to the public Mondays and Thursdays.
The books are about 5 inches thick.

Every month we get complete MTA Metro Bus ridership statistics. If you are interested, they are in Excel format and I would be happy to foward them to you.

Bart or anybody else get a hold of these? The MTA website hasn't gotten its regular update of these statistics in a few months. It seems to me this happened last year around the first month of the year as well.

There will be NO November or December 2002 stats.
Seems there was a computer snafu.
Sorry.

No stats for Nov. or Dec. 2002 ever? Never, ever?
Interesting. What a mighty computer snafu.

Messes up my spreadsheet too. I'll have to take Bart's kind advice.

Sure would be interesting to know what kind of snafu would cause all that data to be lost! Does anyone have the inside scoop? hard disk failure and no backups perhaps?

... perhaps the student interns counting passengers got the holidays off?

I know the answer, but I don't remember what was said that well. Roger Rudick was also with me when Ed explained that the ride data from the TVM's got corrupted, but all other financial data was OK. At that point my eyes glazed over, so yes, Ed Scannel is more then willing to explain, but someone has to want to hear the answer.

I sure hope that we get some stats soon. With gas prices so high in January and even more so this past February, ridership may have set new record highs.
Anybody have information on the delinquent ridership stats?

Dennis is absolutely right ... I personally know alot of people that normally drive to work, but are currently taking Metro Rail because of the gas prices.
The Red and Blue Lines in particular seem very crowded these days ... would love to see the stats. I even saw a jam-packed Green Line train for the first time in my life last week ... I almost couldn't believe it when it pulled into the station, seeing all those people crammed in the aisles.

I groan a little when I see an overcrowded Green Line train, since sometimes it means that there was a long interval between trains. {people waiting, freeway noise, OK broken record}
