What a day Friday! I met with MTA / County Counsel Steven J. Carnevale. Quite a few legal issues were discussed.
The East West Busway Lawsuit
Ethics
The Consent Decree
and the possibility of meeting with Attorney Don Bliss, Special Master of the BRU/MTA Consent Decree to talk about what the rest of the citizens of Los Angeles want and need. I don't represent the MTA or the BRU.
His answer: "Why not, you are a private citizen"
So, now the dilemma, how do I come up with $1,800 plus to pay the costs of a trip to Washington, DC?
I am making my appointment to see Don Bliss Monday
morning. I need to raise funds immediately to pay for this trip.
You can help. Tax deductible contributions can be made to the Non-Profit 501(c)[3] federally recognized project: The Transit Coalition
Checks should be made payable and sent to:
SEE/The Transit Coalition
12463 Telfair Avenue
Sylmar, CA 91342-3736
Should you have any questions, write
transitcoalition@earthlink.net
Tax Exempt Status Documents are available. A letter of acknowledgement will be sent to all donors.
Can you help make this real? Transit Coalition is funded by ordinary people who want to see a balanced transit system in Southern California.
This means:
A World Class Bus System
Expansion of the Light Rail System
Expansion of the Heavy Rail System
Growth of Metrolink
Smart Growth
I have met with 3 of the 4 new sector General Managers and with Gerald F. Francis, the new Rail General Manager. Roger Snoble has recruited a top notch team to revamp and strongly upgrade MTA.
This trip will be REAL, if you all step up to the plate! Thank you!

And, what a trip it was! My appointment with
Don Bliss was Tuesday, April 16, 2002 @ 9 a.m.
I expected maybe 30 minutes. But I got 2 hours with Mr. Bliss. He is a great guy. He understands rail. He asks lots of questions and is very interested in learning the balanced facts.
If you want a full copy of my "Meeting with Don Bliss" report, e-mail me.

Well, that was a mighty fine ruling Tuesday by Mr. Bliss! Mighty fine, mighty fine! I enjoyed reading about it in the "California" section of today's Los Angeles Times.
