What's Your Resolution for 2008? Ditch the car more often and take transit? Well, this Inland Valley Daily Bulletin article includes some suggestions and one of them includes taking Metrolink Weekends to various places in Downtown LA. I got a little laugh when I saw "Take the Metrolink" printed in a newspaper article on New Year's Resolutions That's a good thing! There's probably people out there who still think Metrolink is just for commuting workers. Other resolutions that might relate to transit and going for green: - GO GREENER. Look into conservation: Call your local water department and see how you can save on your water bill with new appliances and landscaping. Turn off your lights and use candles. - USE YOUR vacation time. On average, Americans spend more time commuting, about 100 hours a year, than they do on vacation. California ranks fifth in the nation for the longest average commute time, and San Bernardino made the top 50 counties nationwide with the worst commute times, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Avoid being a statistic. Take a break.

Nice to see Metrolink mentioned. I'm guessing the IVDB is geared towards San Bernardino readers and the suggested Metrolink line would be the San Bernardino line since it runs most frequently during the weekend, in comparison to other lines. (I know, as a San Fernando Valley resident, it proved useful, along with my bike, during my trek to San Dimas.) As for vacation time, we don't get enough of it, that's why we aren't taking enough vacations, or are saving them up for one big vacation. This is also why we have a habit of calling in "sick". Just look at the mandatory amount of paid vacation in other countries: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacation
