Hello Southland Transit Supporters:
This is your Open Invitation from The Transit Coalition to join us for our Tuesday, October 27, 2009 meeting at Philippe the Original restaurant in China Town from 6:44 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. At this gathering, we will discuss current MTA, Metrolink and Amtrak developments, and a recap of the other transit-related projects underway throughout Southern California.
As a special bonus, Mike Cannell, Metro Rail General Manager will talk from 7 to 8 p.m. about Metro Rail and the Authority and he will answer questions as time permits. By Tuesday, the fate of the AnsaldoBreda contract should be determined and Mike will be able to cover that as well as other issues that were resolved at the Metro Board Meeting this past Thursday.
You can learn about the vehicle requirements, how the downtown connector might operate as currently proposed by staff and how elements of the Blue Line are tieing into the Expo Line.
There will be other reports at the meeting such as Metrolink and the new contract with Amtrak. That ever elusive Long Range Plan actually got resolved by the Board.
We hope that Bob Huddy will attend to discuss what the Federal Stimulus is now meaning to Southern California and the High Speed Rail project elements.
To attend, go to our map, if you need directions. We generally gather downstairs by the cash register, then retire to the meeting rooms upstairs. Do not be fooled by the signs that say the meeting rooms are closed, as they don't apply to us. If you have trouble locating the meeting, call 818-367-1661.
Pass the word. If you or anyone is interested, get them there Tuesday the 27nd. Also, note: RSVP. If we know you are coming, we will look for you, so you don't stay lost from us. Note: If you want to get the an e-mail meeting reminder directly, write and you can get on the list for future events.
To make reservations, write us. Subject: Dinner Reservation Just leave your first/last name, e-mail and phone number. Please pass this e-mail along to anyone who might be interested in joining us. Call if you have any questions.
Thanks, Bart Reed
