I have family in Littlerock and I noticed the rail line through there so I looked it up and found it would connect Lancaster and Palmdale to the Inland Empire. I don't know if it would support enough ridership though.

I'm pretty sure that route is already saturated with freight traffic.

That is the old SP's Cut off/By Pass Route. It runs from the Saugas Line to Colton. Via the Cajon Pass. I don't know if the UP would allow Metrolink to send a Train on this Route. And I would think the Route will need major overhauling and rebuilding. I also think Metrolink would need an extra Locomotive. Many of the UP Freights have Helper Locomotives for both Cajon and Tehachapi Routes. But it would make a good bypass to San Bernardino from Lancaster.
