Every time I'm in Metro Center I wonder if the light, which tells the operators to go so that they will hit all of the green on Flower, works properly. It used to be only for getting the Blue Line all the way down Flower and Washington, but now there is Expo, the needs of the operators are different depending on which train they are driving. The light seems dumb not dynamic (i.e. after x seconds the light turns white signaling the operator to start) I wonder if that is the case and if it could be adjusted to get Expo trains through the lights and through the switch at Washington and Flower without stopping or causing Blue Line issues.

I'm always interested in those operational details...if anybody knows, it would be cool to share.

Even when it was just the blue line, the countdown timer for leaving 7th/metro really only ensured that the train could miss the light at 12th. I say "could" because if the train traveled slowly through the tunnel for any reason it still might hit the light. And then depending on the dwell time at Pico and how fast the operator operated, the rest of the lights could be missed as well. Now with Expo I think that it's really only the light at 12th and maybe Pico. It's almost superfluous anymore.
