To all our transit supporters and friends: We need your help financially. Transit is in trouble. And rallying to fight the problems needs full-time attention. Look at the Orphan Transit Projects and the Part-Time Bus Service where workers can't get to a majority of job shifts. Every day and night we go out to meetings, give presentations, train students, research and develop written documentation and do all the work you'd like to do, but don't have time. We are your voice. We are the community activists. But to do our work, we need your contributions. Every week, there are a variety of meetings where the community shows up to oppose Orphan Projects such as High-Speed Rail and Metro Double-Track Safety Projects. Other Orphan transit projects and systems are ignored and in trouble such as the Downtown LA Streetcar, Angels Flight and the San Pedro Streetcar. Metro relentlessly trims bus service, making it largely unusable. We document and expose these shortcomings and educate the elected officials. And we need your help. Some Community Opponents strongly believe they can stop a Metro Double Track Safety project on the LOSSAN rail corridor, which is the second busiest in the United States. We counter by showing up to provide officials with the transit perspective, rather than the Opponents hidden agenda We need your donations to help fund the battle. Please contribute.

This week: [Monday, Sept. 7] Met with Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian at his annual Labor Day Barbecue and discussed transportation issues and set up a meeting invite to speak with his transportation Deputy in Sacramento. Shown: Bart Reed with Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian.

[Thursday, Sept. 10] Additionally, TTC also has set up a meeting with the biggest developer in San Fernando to address ways to connect the community.
[Saturday, Sept. 12] Also, Transit Coalition set up a meeting with two San Fernando Councilmembers to discuss elements that need be addressed with both High Speed Rail and the Double Track Project.
Upcoming: Meeting with Assemblymember Patty Lopez on High Speed Rail and Double Tracking.
Group meeting with High Speed Rail Supporters.
Follow up meeting with Nelson Pichardo to tour the complete Right-of-Way from Sylmar to Burbank for High Speed Rail.
Recently: [Thursday, Sept. 3] Last week, Transit Coalition took a top staff member (Nelson Pichardo) of Assemblymember Patty Lopez on a tour of the Right-of-Way from Sylmar to San Fernando to see real concerns and issues with both the High Speed Rail I-14 Corridor and the Metro Double Tracking project from Sylmar to Burbank that will be a game changer for Metrolink and Union Pacific. We showed where significant improvements can be made such as Pedestrian Access across the Right-of-Way to connect jobs to the bus service, to connect community residents with direct paths to shopping and stores and how the Sylmar-San Fernando Metrolink Station needs to be reconfigured to include bike storage, bathrooms and vending machines, much like Burbank and Glendale.
[Thursday, Sept. 3] Next, we visited State Senator Robert Hertzberg's Office to also talk about High Speed Rail issues and talked about why San Fernando is not asking for betterments that could be gained, even if High Speed Rail does not run along the I-14 Corridor. We also talked about Part-Time Bus Service in the San Fernando Valley that lacks a span of service to get workers to and from job shifts and doesn't run on weekends when there are plenty of job shifts. Shown below: Steve Fukushima, Bart Reed and Jeremy Montes.
[Thursday, Sept. 3] At the Sierra Club Transportation Committee, a motion was created to that will eventually create an official position of supporting the Double Track Project known as Bernson to Raymer (DeSoto Ave. to Balboa Blvd.), which has severe community opposition in a small stretch of the Right-of-Way.
[Monday, August 31]Unmet Transportation Needs Meeting. (write up coming)
These are a few of the things we accomplished the week of August 30 to September 6 and some of our upcoming activities. We ask that you consider making a donation so we can continue our work. Thanks.
