How do these drives expect to cultivate any sympathy with the bus riding public? When they are very often times rude and pass you up just as you are about to approach their vehicle. Now they want us to support them? I have seen bus drivers do some pretty rude and mean things to riders. Sometimes in acts or words and other times in hand gestures. These things must come right now as they the drivers beg for our support. Let us not forget that it is the bus riding public that creates the job they are now striking against. Bus Riders Union, are you listening?? Because the climate is such right now that there can be a movement to go against the drivers as fiercly as you have gone against the MTA. And that kind of movement would invalidate all that you claim in regards to being the voice of the bus riding. public.

Ross, the bus drivers are not on strike, the mechanics are. The drivers are simply supporting the strike.

I think a good question that these drivers, who are supporting the strike, would ask themselves is whether or not they are supporting their riders. Frankly, it doesn't appear that the drivers seem to care very much about their riders--which is part of Ross' point.

A Big Blue Bus driver kicked me out of her bus because she THOUGHT I stole from her purse.
