The following is a possible idea for a rail line following Route 605, starting north from the San Bernardino Metrolink pivot near the City of Industry to Long Beach. The shaded cyan line represents existing track (including a former SP line along the San Gabriel River); the bright cyan line represents new rail that would need to be built. Of course, would this rail line be useful at all? I'm not entirely sure, since it doesn't come close to serving important trip generators. It does however connect easily with other Metrolink lines, and it has the potential to connect with the existing Green Line and a possible extension of the Gold Line to Whittier. The other problem is what kind of rail line should this be? Commuter? Light rail? Could it actually be better off as BRT? Still another one I realized is that do we indeed want to encourage new development in these areas, when we should do so in places that have easier access to jobs, schools and entertainment? www.geocities.com/bennyp81/605-2.GIF

dude: Good idea but it shold go to th university or connect to the Blue Line, when the blue line was being studied there was a plan to go by Long beach city college and to end up by the University. But atlas it was skipped over. The same thing happened for the Metro Green Line---a spur should haver been built going from the Long Beach freeway out to Cerritos. Or at least the bridge for a future light rail connector/spur. But atlas the mistakes of the past comeback to haunt you. (Your sins will find you out!)

Long Beach Airport is definitely worth incorporating into this line, too.
Also, making this line go to the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Metrolink station would be greatly preferred over adding another LOSSAN stop at Los Nietos. Otherwise, this line looks pretty interesting.

Get it to the 10 to connect to the El Monte Busway and it looks good.
