I just wanted to add some tinder to the anti-BRU fire with a link to this MetroRiderLA posting: metrorider.elhay.net/2007/03/23/bru-on-the-train/That's right, it's a picture of our lovely multicultural friends of the BRU enjoying the racist subway they hate so much! You'd think a group as dedicated and passionate about the cause of stopping "transit racism" would be able to resist the urge to ride on that terribly racist but super comfortable fast accessible clean and efficient train, even if it meant riding on the slower, less comfortable, bumpy, but all together kinder and gentler to "people of color" buses they adore.

I remember seeing the BRU riding the God forsaken racist LA rail system. Which I always like to ride . But it gets me the BRU would have a picture taken of them smiling in the Red Line station . It's like a group of right-wingers allowing pictures taken of them smiling and hugging members of the Communist Party USA. The BRU are a bunch of sheep! Baaaaaaa.

Well, I decided to see if the BRU had any plans for the proposed service reductions. I found this little clip inviting people to a BRU protest: You read that right. You can take the...to a BRU function... ... ... The BRU offers directions not only via Metro Local, but also via the TRAIN and Metro Rapid! The latter are two transit modes the BRU opposes over more 40-foot buses. The BRU argues (strange as it may seem), that trains in L.A. are a racist plot to take money away from minority bus riders -- despite the fact that the trains clearly reflect the communities that they pass through. Souce: LA Daily NewsThe BRU states that all money used for rail, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Rapid Bus, Articulated Busses and even the 45-foot busses should be spent on 40-foot and less busses. Source: BRU TruthOkay, their philosophy doesn't make factual sense... By the way, if anybody's planning on participating in the protest planned by the BRU, I strongly suggest using that planned time more wisely... ... ... I believe there is much better strategy than protesting. If you haven't done so already, approach your employer, your boss, and your local doctor's office, especially if your bus route is on the table for reductions. Your employer, your boss, and your doctor's office would probably write letters to Metro as well as support letters for TTC projects. I believe that will have a much greater impact.

I have a friend that participates in this group (for which I disagree) and he never takes the bus to any of the meetings and prefers to drive everywhere, probably hasn't been on a bus in years. He's skeptical of them as I am especially how they attempt to entrap ethnic commuters with how every motive of Metro is racially motived. I posted on their site asking if they advocate buses so much why don't they advocate rush hour bus-only lanes and when they wait for a bus on Wilshire and 2 crush-loaded Rapids arrive do they not hope for a subway? I guess they would rather a dozen 40ft Local service 20s to show up. What? Are they hoping to turn Metro into LADOT Dash? The region is too large and there's too many commuters for a system like that. Why not just press for more funding of Dash if they want that? Ack, how are they a bus rider union when they are a civil rights organization and don't care about an efficient transit system these people give me a headache... Why don't they call the oil companies racist for allowing gasoline to be speculated so that poor people that drive everyday instead of taking buses can't afford it any more? I think my frustration over them is vented sufficiently for now.

The BRU states that all money used for rail, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Rapid Bus, Articulated Busses and even the 45-foot busses should be spent on 40-foot and less busses. I didn't know they were also opposed to Rapid and other non-local buses. It sure doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? And they've been riding the Red Line to protests at the Taj ever since they and it were both in existence.
