Has the train in Seattle, [the Monorail] ever been extended or or planned to do so? Or will it just be a tourist trap? Sincerely The Roadtrainer The Seattle Monorail is well beloved by the locals. There was a movement several years ago to expand that very same Monorail Line. That effort was stopped by an action of the voters, when the costs to finance went into the Billions for a 14 mile line. Every promise made by the monorail advocates such as faster, better, cheaper, turned quite the opposite. Transit Coalition has a monorail page to take a look at the proposed Wilshire Monorail.

A few years ago, there was a move to either extend the present "Monorail" (more correctly called a "monobeam") or build new lines with the same or similar technology. Last I heard (and someone with closer ties to Seattle is welcome to add information) the project was turned down by the voters and has either been laid to rest or is of interest only to "true believers" of the Monorailist persuasion.
